Dyniss played for Ococo, an independent
grassroots organization which aims to get talented individuals
for positive change together. It was a low-fi show with about
30 attending, but the video songs were happening! New Age musician
Michael Moon played
too.
Fresh organic juices were on hand from 'Papaya Hut', the juice
and organic food bar. Yum! |

A local community outdoor gig
the community was calling the first annual "Melitastock"

It was nice to see the local folks out on this fine sunny fall
day. |

Toronto
(El Mocambo) |
This show was part of the Acoustic
Syndicate get-together. It was a night of acoustic song and poetry,
but I didn't see any poetry, hmm. If you attended this show, read
and/or comment on it in the blog here. |

(160 Lounge) |
A show to welcome
the Solstice, put on by local New Age gurus Gaspare

other neat stuff during the evening. I played mellow songs. Read
more about this show in the Blog here. |

Toronto
(The Rivoli) |
This evening was a tribute
to the late great musician Nick
Drake. I played two of Nick's songs, Man in a Shed and
Fruit Tree. A plethora of other Toronto musicians also
offered tribute on the 30th anniversary of Nick Drake's death.
Nick's 3 albums were performed in sequence, preceded by a screening
of Jeroen Berkvens excellent film A Skin Too Few
-- a documentary about the gentle songsmith's life. Proceeds went
toward Willow Breast Cancer
Services. A magical night.

Hamilton, Canada
(The Staircase Theatre) |
This was my 2nd show performing
as part of the cool Hamilton
Music Scene. I was the last performer to play that evening
in the theatre of this fine establishment (there's also a stage
in the cafe part). |
46 |
| June 22, 2004 |
Toronto
(Renaissance Cafe) |
I was in full regalia as
"The Holy Green Warrior", wearing green leaves around
my head and in a sort of priest/cape thing. I was happy to be
one of the featured artists at this regular open mic. The theme
of this show was "dress as your inner superhero". Poet
extrordinaire Jill Binder
hosted the evening, and the crowd was friendly. |
45 |
| June 20, 2004 |
Toronto
(Renaissance Cafe) |
BENEFIT. This
was a fundraiser for Green Party nominee Peter
Davison. There was a juggler who seemed to be juggling for
hours, and a great local ska band, whose name escapes me now.
Drat! |
44 |
| June 13, 2004 |
Hamilton
(Staircase Theatre) |
BENEFIT. This was a fundraiser
for the Green Party of Canada.
I had bit of the flu, so I only played 8 songs unplugged. I was
rather happy to be back in Hamilton, which I really connected
with in the one year I lived there. There were some cool positive
Green folks at this gig. 4 Green Federal Candidates for the upcoming
Canada election were present, and two of them played their own
songs on guitar as well! Hmm... I've never seen OTHER parties'
candidates play their own songs... |

| June 12, 2004 |
Toronto
(Renaissance Cafe) |
I performed as part of The
Fortunates. We had a few boners on stage (that means MISTAKES,
people!), but we had a relaxed, good time. Even though this particular
cafe we were playing in was smoke-free since it's inception, Toronto
is now officially smoke-free in all bars, cafes, pool halls, etc.!
It's a relief for a (now) non-smoker. |

| Mar 6, 2004 |
Toronto
(Renaissance Cafe) |
This was the first show Dyniss
played live as part of The
Fortunates. It was a great night with a great vibe. Every
third song on average was a Dyniss original, sandwiched happily
between the other two excellent frontmen. |
41 |
| Jan 24, 2004 |
Toronto (Renaissance
Cafe) |
Dyniss opened for original
rockers Fuzzy West and folk-rock frontman Alan Lee. Dyniss started
solo, then had two Fortunates
band members join him, and finally, he was joined for the last
few songs by drummer Morris Coccia. Nice unhurried vibe that night. |

| Jan 8, 2004 |
Toronto (Holy Joe's - 3rd
floor above the Reverb at Queen & Bathurst) |
Dyniss played as part of
Luke Jackson's intimate
singer-songwriter sharing nite. What a great little gig this was!
Quite a few people braved the cold (-26C!) to attend this standing-room
only show. The two other solo players were Marshall Tully and
Matt Masotti. |

Toronto
Radio
CFRB |
Dyniss was live on The
Food Guys Show with Marty & Avrum on CFRB
AM 1010 between 6pm and 7pm EST. He played little snippets
of his songs unplugged throughout the show! 100,000 estimated
listeners. |

| Dec 22, 2003 |
Toronto
Television
CityTV |
Well, this wasn't really
a "live show". In fact, it was about 40 pre-recorded
seconds on local CityTV
show Speakers
Corner. Dyniss discussed his Christmas
song on the air, talking about how consumer-oriented Christmas
was and all, and how the song he wrote was about giving immaterial
things for Christmas. It was funny, not all doom and gloom. The
editors must have liked it since it was the very first spot of
the show. |
37 |
| Dec 11, 2003 |
Toronto (Starbucks Yonge
& Davisville - upstairs lounge) |
This was an early, mostly
solo unplugged solo show, followed by local blonde balladeer Rhonda
Rose. Mike Crumpton of The
Fortunates joined Dyniss in the 2nd half on electric guitar
to an attentive, mostly-friends crowd. Dyniss embarassed unknown
attendee "Craig" by inserting his name into his Hey
Michael Christmas song. |
36 |
| November 8, 2003 |
Toronto
(Tim
Sims Playhouse within The Second City) |
Played just 2 songs as part
of one of Red Rayne's excellent
entertainment variety evenings. It was a sold-out show, but the
crowd was nervously "waiting to laugh" at Dyniss' non-comedic
songs, which appeared only after four stand-up comics did their
schtick. |

| Oct 11, 2003 |
Hamilton
(The Gown & Gavel) |
This show was
part of the HMS (Hamilton Music Scene), running all weekend. Many
Hamilton acts played in various local clubs. Although the sound
person never showed up and yours truly had to mix the 3 acts,
it was fun. One friend (Mike Crumpton), one cd player (Toshiba),
and one guitar (Washburn) joined me on stage. |

Hamilton
(Staircase Theatre) |
Yep, another
open mic. Was fun. Many persons there. |
33 |
| Sep 4, 2003 |
Hamilton
(Staircase Theatre) |
Another open
mic. The local "Hammer" (slang for Hamilton) gang was
out in full force. Dyniss played exclusively peace songs for some
strange reason, and was subsequently told of the local Gandhi
Peace Festival next month by an audience member. He proceeded
to contact the organizers. We'll see if he plays there... |

| Aug 26, 2003 |
(Toronto
(Renaissance Cafe),
1938 Danforth Ave. |
This was the first show played
by Dyniss through the neat local Coffeehouse
network. There were a LOT of poets rhyming their stuff at this
open mic show -- some good, some needing some delivery skills!
Musicians were OK, including some really young kids who were the
first to go on. |

| Aug 19, 2003 |
Hamilton
(Yuk
Yuk's) |
This was a fun local talent show for the
Hamilton area. Dyniss played for the first time with only a microphone
and a cd. No guitar! Just like American
Idol! Although Dyniss quite possibly had more enthusiastic
audience participation than the other 33 contestants with his
song Generaligion,
the top 5 finalists were superb singers who kicked Dyniss' butt
with their superior vocals. The show (and Dyniss) got mentioned
in the Hamilton Spectator.

Hamilton
(Mermaid's Lounge) |
An "open mic" nite. This was
a new venue for Dyniss. It had good character, especially for
being a basement bar. Hosted by Daniel and a few local musicians.
Funky blues trio Green and Blue rocked the house. |

| Aug 7, 2003 |
Burlington
(The Hanging Tree) |
On the main road in Burlington, this bar
had a bunch of locals enjoying their drinks and each-other's company.
The evening was hosted by John Restas and Rob Cunningham. |

| July 30, 2003 |
Hamilton
(Staircase Theatre) |
An open mic nite. Not a gazillion people,
but that's probably because everyone was at the Toronto Rolling
Stones / AC/DC / etc. etc. show. |
27 |
| July 29, 2003 |
Hamilton
(Mermaid's Lounge) |
This was Dyniss' first show at this club
in Hamilton's infamous Hess Village. It was a basement, it was
loud, and it was smokey, but contained a nice rowdy bunch of folks
nonetheless. |

| Jul 22, 2003 |
Toronto
(CIUT 89.5 FM radio) |
BENEFIT. Dyniss
enthusiastically discussed for a FULL HOUR his views on Animal
Rights and related topics, and played a few of his relevant songs,
including "My
Guinea Pig". Animal
Voices is transmitted weekly between 11am and 12pm from Toronto
with charming vegan host Lauren Corman. If you're not in the Toronto
area, you can stream this show to your computer each week when
it happens from the CIUT site.
There will be link to this interview on this website shortly. |

| July 10, 2003 |
Grimsby
(Fanattic's) |
An evening hosted by Phil Rose. This was
the 2nd time Dyniss attended and played, backed by Phil Rose for
most of the 9-song set. The friendly staff let Dyniss have a free
herbal tea and orange juice. |
24 |
| July 9, 2003 |
Hamilton
(Staircase Theatre) |
Dyniss was the "featured
performer" for this regular weekly open mic nite. Good show,
but don't you know how boring one guy and a guitar becomes after
45 minutes? Unless you're a "background player"... Hmm... |
23 |
| Jun 23, 2003 |
Toronto
(Organic Buddha Cafe) |
BENEFIT. This was a benefit
for the Toronto Animal Rights
Society. Dyniss played "unplugged" to about 50 people
at this cool all-vegan cafe. Nice people, nice atmosphere! A percentage
of all proceeds from ordering the yummy vegan meals at the Cafe
were donated to the Society. |
23 |
| June 18, 2003 |
Hamilton
(Staircase Theatre) |
An "open mic". Dyniss discovers
a really cool cafe in his new hometown. Performers were amateur
to experienced. Nice to see a few young people trying out their
chops. Hosted by Rafael. |
22 |
| June 15, 2003 |
Toronto
(Chicago's Diner) |
An "open mic" nite hosted again
by Gary 17. A number of players
with their guitars played. Memorable performers: "Lavarius",
who never took his sunglasses off and played with a radio-remote
acoustic guitar into a distorted Pignose. Also Brian
Gladstone, established Toronto folk hero. The crowd was reasonably
rowdy for a Sunday night. |
21 |
| June 9, 2003 |
Toronto
(Blues on Bellair) |
An "open mic" nite hosted by
Gary 17. A small but receptive
crowd here. This was the first show Dyniss played aftere a long
live show hiatus. |
20 |
| October 25, 2002 |
Toronto (The B-Side Club) |
This was a benefit show (don't ALL indie
bands need extra money?) for the rockin' band Merkury
Burn. Dyniss only played 3 songs like the other 9 donating
bands did, but one of the songs was a Merkury Burn cover! How
daring! The short show was over before Dyniss could even warm
up! |
19 |
| Sep 26, 2002 |
Toronto.
(The 360 Club) |
BENEFIT. This
was a benefit for Freedom
For Animals. Specifically, these guys were trying to raise
money to help out the many cats in Toronto's Kensington Market
they have rescued. One woman bid $200 for a Rolling Stones baseball
cap signed by Mick Jagger. Bands "Trucks Leaving" and
"Adelphia" also donated their talents. |
18 |
| Sept 21, 2002 |
Toronto.
(Clinton's) |
This "Celebrate the Equinox"
show was joined by the superbly acoustic Solstice, and a band
from out of town called Getuplicans & Downocrats. Dyniss and
the band played to a very attentive audience (their favourite
sort of audience). |

| June 9, 2002 |
Grange Park
Outdoors
(Toronto) |
BENEFIT. This
show protested bio-technology and its potentially harmful consequences
to man and nature. Learn more at biodev.org.
Dyniss and the band played to an attentive, sitting-under-the-trees
audience. David Suzuki
spoke enlighteningly before the performance. |
16 |
| May 22, 2002 |
Toronto
(Rancho Relaxo) |
Dyniss and the band opened up for local
rock act "Mommy", and Luke Jackson who preceded Dyniss.
This was a louder-than-usual show. The stage lights were so bright
and the audience was so dim that the band couldn't see who was
applauding! |
15 |
| May 5, 2002 |
Toronto
(The Don Valley Brick Works) |
BENEFIT. Part
of the Living Rivers
Festival. An event designed to promote awareness in cleaning
up Toronto's Don River and other bodies of water. Dyniss and the
band played two sets right next to a re-vitalized piece of water
and marshland. You should have seen how ugly this human-abused
land was in the "before" photos. |
14 |
| April 20, 2002 |
Toronto
(Clinton's Tavern) |
Dyniss and the band played first for an
evening of entertainment with Toronto bands Solstice and Freshwater
Drum. This was the first time people EVER danced to a Dyniss song!
(Must have been Morris, the band's groovy drummer.) |
13 |
| April 10, 2002 |
Toronto
(Kitty O'Shea's) |
An "open mic"
nite at a Toronto Beaches area pub, hosted by Laszlo. Dyniss
played 3 songs on guitar for a neat little crowd. |
12 |
| Apr 7, 2002 |
Toronto
(Bloor Cinema) |
BENEFIT. Dyniss'
2nd "Power of Peace" show, with various performers.
The "IBM Computer Lab Choir" was better than Dzirksts,
the choir which Dyniss sings with! |
11 |
| April 3, 2002 |
Toronto
(The Void Room) |
This was an early show (8:30pm) "unplugged"
with the full band. Why don't more people play earlier in Toronto?
Sofas and a "lounge" atmosphere contributed to a fun
and easy show. This was Alexander's first show playing bass with
Dyniss! Morris played bongos instead of a drumkit, and Mark played
his BRAND NEW keyboard. |

| Dec 31, 2001 |
Toronto
(Star Ray T.V.) |

tool. It was a refreshing experience to see such a large group
of positive thinkers together under one roof! |
